Claim Sania Mirza-Martina Hingis BNP Paribas Open doubles title
Sania Mirza and the Swiss legend Martina Hingis began their partnership with a title victory as they overcame Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 6-3 6-4 in shock at the top of the BNP Paribas Open.
Top seed Sania and Hingis, who joined forces recently made an extraordinary beginning because they did not get even a single set in the tournament en route to the title.
Sania and Hingis trailed 2-4 in the second set, but won four straight to win the question.
Courtesy of his victory, Sania is set to achieve the best result ranking number three career when questions WTA ranking new table tomorrow.

“Facts, of course, we are good team, but it does not always happen that way when you step on the field,” said Sania after the victory.
“We are very pleased that we were able to not only win, but win in such a dominant fashion, not losing a set and being down only twice in the whole two weeks,” said the Indian.
Martina best player, winner of 16 Grand Slam titles including five singles, said they hope to win the title.
“This is something we had hoped. It strikes a forehand, especially on the right side, and I can move and finish the point. It prepares, I finish. It’s cool enough for me,” said Martina.
“I am very pleased that we made this approach. Obviously, we have partners we played well with, like me last year with Flavia, and the change was a big move. I am very happy, it worked, because you never know what to expect. Winning the tournament in our Premier is a new energy, and we hope to keep it, “she added.
Mirza was asked what makes them such a good team in terms of strategy on the double ground.
“She is one of the best people who can complement the way I play. She probably some of the best hands in the world at the net. For me, I need this. I need someone who can finish the balls where I have set up.
“And it really is. As I said, on paper everything looks great, but you still have to go there. Names do nothing. You have to go out and win,” she said.
