Kolkata Knight Riders have used the comfort of their territory to record only their fourth win in the competition, easily beating Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets. Both teams had their teams packed with spinners as if it were a fifth field Kanpur day, but it was the spinners who strangled Royals Knight Riders batsmen before Yusuf Pathan and Jacques Kallis led the team on the line with 16 balls to spare.

The victory kept his chances of making the playoffs alive Knight Riders for, but the task ahead remains extremely difficult, five wins in five matches needed here. Royals, on the other hand, have maintained their grip on third place on the grid points.

Royals have an unblemished record at home this season, but they were a shadow of themselves playing outside. As they chose to bat, a high dose of rotation was expected. But Gambhir made a gesture of surprise, opening the bowling with medium pacer Sumit narwhal, but gave the ball to Sachithra Senanayake shortly after. Senanayake extract the juice was available for spinners and caught a mistake Ajinkya Rahane. Drummer extended playing hard inside lobed, missed the ball as it turned sharply through the gap between bat and carpets, and saw the guard whipping bails off.

Dravid tried to disrupt plans Knight Riders by sending James Faulkner at No. 3, but the movement has resulted in a single race. Sanju Samson, the impressive 18 years, joined Shane Watson added 41 points for the third wicket in which neither the batsmen appeared in no problem. Both singles picked off spinners for overs, before Samson sparked a punch meat through extra cover that oozed out the second-ball bowled by Jacques Kallis. He got more adventurous in the next over, breaking a short performance by Iqbal Abdulla corner cow deep into the crowd.

Royals had patiently spent 71 for 2 after 10 overs when Gambhir introduced Sunil Narine. The repertoire of melon variations were all thrown to Watson in the first over, and drummer, struggling to pick up the changes, has bowed out of the battle after only five balls. Samson continued to dazzle and looked set for another half-century, but fell in the 18th over trying to clear the long on boundary. He was suspended for five balls before when Bisla, the wicketkeeper, obtained an edge around the coverage point, but dropped the easiest of chances off Narine. Dravid himself held until the end and stood at 8 to play only three times, but none of the drummers who came before him had much impact.

Total Royals proved too small to pose any problems for Knight Riders, who rounded their last league match at Eden Gardens with a resounding victory.
